RE: New Security Enhancements
Identity Theft and Fraud are serious issues facing internet users. The government estimates 400,000 people are victims each year. As a result, the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) has issued requirements for enhanced security measures when accessing account information online. To comply with the requirements, Woodway Financial Advisors and our service provider will enable the enhanced security by December 31, 2006.
Detailed below is what you need to know:
- Your User ID and Password will stay the same
- You will be asked to select and answer one of eight standard "challenge questions" i.e. what is your favorite color?
- Once you have successfully completed the steps, a security level (also known as a "cookie") will be stored on your PC. This allows us to identify the computer you normally use to log on.
- A cookie is unique to the PC you are using and can only be read by the website that gave it to you. It is a basic way to identify the computer you happen to be using at the time, and does not identify you personally. It cannot be used to obtain data from your hard drive, your email address or personal information stored on your computer.
- Please note, if your PC does not store "cookies" you will need to answer the "challenge question" each time you log in.
- After three invalid attempts to enter the "challenge question" answer, account access is suspended. Should this occur, simply contact your Woodway Financial Advisors account administrator.
Protecting your personal information is vital. To read more about online access, please visit our "Online Agreement" If you have any questions regarding this enhancement, please let us know.
